To become an officer in The Salvation Army, you must first be a committed Christian and willing to embrace the beliefs and doctrines of The Salvation Army, including the Articles of War.
The following qualifications are desirable for those who are to be considered as an officer candidate:
- A sense of conviction that God is leading you into the path of officership.
- Being of good general health.
- Completion of year 12 studies, or a mature age applicant who may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Active Salvation Army soldier within a local Corps (church).
The decision to accept a candidate for officer training is made by the Territorial Candidates board, following a comprehensive application process.
