What happens to our profit?

All profits from our shop stay local, supporting various programs of The Salvation Army such as: community meals, outreach, visitation, and pastoral/social support to the community.

How can I donate goods to the thrift shop?

By donating your unwanted goods, you’re not only giving a once loved item another life, you are helping us give hope where it’s needed most. Our Salvos Stores and op shops specialise in reselling donated goods to help fund vital services and activities run by The Salvation Army.

Donations can be made to our shop at 3 Mill Street, Mooroopna, during business hours. Please see below for lists of items we can and cannot accept.

Mooroopna Thrift Shop doesn't sell or pickup furniture. If you have large items to donate, request a pickup through Salvos Stores. Your donation will still support the work of the Salvos.

Volunteer with us

We are always looking for individuals to bring fresh energy and ideas to a range of volunteer roles. Whatever your skillset, availability or areas of interest, you may surprise yourself with the different ways you can make a difference.

Love opp-shopping?

Why don't you check out Salvos Stores in Shepparton as well?

The best things to donate are things that you would be happy to keep using yourself but just don't need anymore, including:

  • Clothing and accessories
  • Toys, books, CDs, DVDs and vinyl records
  • Homewares
  • Furniture
  • Electrical goods

It costs The Salvation Army millions of dollars each year to dispose of unsellable items that have been left outside our stores.

Please don't donate anything that is broken, damaged, ripped, stained or in any way faulty. As a simple rule, if there's something wrong with it then we can't sell it.

Due to Occupational Health and Safety / Duty of Care Legislation, we cannot accept or offer for sale the following items:

  • Stained, torn or broken mattresses and bases
  • Stained, torn or broken soft furnishings, including lounge suites, chairs, rugs, mats, curtains etc.
  • Carpets and Underfelt
  • White Goods – e.g. fridges, freezers, washing machines and dryers
  • Broken furniture / incomplete goods
  • Computers, printers and associated parts
  • Gas, electric or oil heaters
  • Gas or electric cook tops or ovens
  • Car parts
  • Building materials
  • Gas bottles and fire extinguishers

  • Commodes
  • Motorcycle / Bicycle helmets
  • Baby Cots, port-a-cots, bassinettes, playpens, walkers or high chairs
  • Children’s car seats, booster seats or baby capsules
  • Infants' nightwear and jump suits that are not fire rated (must have red fire rating attached)
  • Safety belts and children’s restraints
