Prayer Craft

There are lots of different ways to pray, we can use everyday items to help us. Here are a couple of ideas and items you can use to help you pray at home, at church or with your family and friends.

Prayer Flip-Book

Create a prayer flip book to keep all your friends' and families' prayer requests in one place. All you need are index cards, a ring to hold everything together, a hole punch and writing utensils. Hold all the cards together and punch a hole in one corner and place the ring through to hold all the cards together. Write the name or thing that needs prayer on the front of the each card, and any specific prayer requests on the back. Leave room on all the cards so you can add more requests as you hear about them.

Prayer Hearts

All you need is some pipe cleaners, coloured cardboard, and stickers/glitter and a jar to hold them all in. Make shapes like hearts or flowers with the cardboard and glue them together with a pipe cleaner placed down the centre of each one to form a stem. Write the name of a person or situation you would like to pray for on each heart/flower. Place them all in a jar and each morning or afternoon take out one or two of the hearts/flowers and pray for what’s written on it.

Blessings Board

You'll need a second hand picture frame with glass, fabric (hessian or burlap looks nice), lettering and number stickers and white board markers. Start with an old frame you can find around the house or maybe from a second hand shop. Carefully remove the glass and clean the frame and glass. Apply the letters in straight lines on the glass to give it a title "Count Your Blessings" or "Blessings Board". Then place numbers down the side (as many as you like or can fit). Add some burlap or hessian to the back board and put it all back together. You could add some decoration to the front if you wish. Using your whiteboard markers write the blessings you are thankful for and pray about them. You can change your list as regularly as you like.
