10th February 2014 - In Victoria the CFA continues to battle 25 out of control fires across the state. It is estimated so far that over 30 homes have been destroyed in what some are calling the worst bushfires since Black Saturday. Salvation Army emergency teams acted immediately to offer widespread
Northern Victoria
The Salvation Army are providing meals and refreshments to fire crews. On Monday morning, breakfast was served to more than 800 fire-fighters in Wallan. In Gisborne, over 1000 fire-fighters received breakfast as multiple fires continue to burn in the area.
In the Numurkah area (north of Shepparton) 150 beds have been supplied by The Salvation Army at an evacuation centre in Cobram.
The Salvation Army have deployed personnel and resources to work with the Red Cross at evacuation centres in Northern Victoria, including Seymour.
Gippsland
The Salvation Army has provided over 300 bedding and toiletry kits to community relief centres in Moe, Morwell and the Latrobe Valley area.
Many areas in the Gippsland region are without power as a result of bushfires and some residents are still unable to return home.
In Bairnsdale, over 200 bedding and toiletry kits have been provided to people displaced by fires.
