Federal Opposition Leader witnesses work of The Salvos
24 December 2014
The Honorable Bill Shorten, Federal Leader of the Opposition, recently visited The Salvation Army in Melbourne CBD to witness first-hand the work undertaken by the many staff and volunteers at 69 Bourke Street.
He spent time chatting with people from the community who are doing it tough as well as those who are living in Collingwood FC Foundation's Magpie Nest housing program to hear their stories over a cup of coffee. Minister Shorten expressed his gratitude for the work of the Salvos in supporting those who may be alone and isolated this Christmas.
