Generosity helps make Christmas brighter for those in need
30 December 2014
Kmart and The Salvation Army once again humbled by generosity.
- 391,846 gifts donated across Australia to the 2014 Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal
- A sign of changing times: Aussies also donated over $150,000 to the Appeal
After 27 years, Kmart and charity partner, The Salvation Army are humbled yet again by the amazing generosity of Australian’s who give to the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal at Christmas time.
Guy Russo, Kmart Managing Director reflects on the Appeal as a special tradition for so many families and how the support that it receives each year is just heart-warming:
We know how much it means to those who hit hard times, to know that people out there care and are willing to support any way that they can during Christmas.
As times are changing, the Appeal too evolved this year to make it even easier for Aussies to support those less fortunate.
In addition to 391,846 gifts donated, this year shoppers could also contribute online or at Kmart registers – with over $150,000 being raised.
Thanks to proceeds from the sale of Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal products such as wrapping paper and gift tags, the Salvos will also receive $91,000 to help support people in need.
