Right now, thousands of families are struggling to afford petrol, rent, and power. Even putting food on the table is an uphill battle.
People are being forced to extreme measures to try and cope with financial stress. Skipping meals. Forgoing mortgage payments. Cancelling medical treatments…
Some burdens are too big to carry alone.
The 2024 Red Shield Appeal campaign focuses on bringing to life the struggles of everyday Australians.
Stories of people who stop short of seeking help due to fear or shame, or people facing unbearable challenges just to feed their families and keep them safe.
This year, we are asking all Australians to donate to the Red Shield Appeal so that nobody struggles alone.
How you can be involved
Through the CitySalvos critical support services and programs, like our Common Ground Café, Do Unto Others Program and Playgroup we aim to help those experiencing homelessness, financial hardship, loneliness and isolation as well as alcohol or other drug addiction.
Our Café is open weekdays and, as well as offering a hot cuppa, it provides a space for connection and acceptance where people feel safe and welcome from the moment they walk through our doors.
