The 'Featured Image' element exists to showcase your beautiful photos in the flow of your page. This page shows some of the options available via this element.

1. Default image

First up is the 'default' option. 'Default' contains your image to the normal text width of the page, and adjusts size automatically to perfectly fit on smaller screens such as mobile devices.

2. Parallax images

Next is a 'Parallax' image. Parallax images stay in a fixed position while the page slides over the top. You can customise things such as the height of the image as well as put colour filters over the top. This photo has a very subtle red filter on it.

Here's another parallax image. This one is given a smaller height, and a stronger blue filter at about 60% strength.

3. Full-width images

The final option for the 'Featured Image' module is the 'Full Width' option. This option ensures your photo stretches across the full width of the screen and looks great with high-quality images.

This option works best with landscape images. If you try to use portrait images, the top and bottom of the image will be cropped to prevent the image from taking up too much space on the screen.

4. A word of caution about portrait (tall) images

One final tip - you can use either landscape or portrait images in default - but as you can see below, portrait images take up a lot of space! If you're looking for a smaller image, you might prefer to use the 'text and images' module instead, perhaps with the image aligned to the left or to the right.
