Miracle Meeting at The Salvation Army
ARARAT - The Ararat branch of the Salvation Army is inviting Ararat and district residents to attend a miracle meeting on Saturday night.
Ararat corps officer, Lieutenant James Thompson, said the branch was excited to welcome retired Salvation Army officer, Major Alan Laurens to the town.
Lieutenant Thompson said Major Laurens had been travelling around to different churches and that his Encounter God meetings had received a great response.
"There's been lots of stories about people getting healed and exciting things like that. We're expecting the same thing to happen here," he said.
Lieutenant Thompson said the types of issues the Salvation Army were encountering today, such as healing the sick and dealing with addictions and problems, were the same issues brought up in the bible.
"If people are sick, injured or depressed come to us and we will pray for you. We believe God wants to give you life in all its fullness!" he said.
Lieutenant Thompson said Major Laurens had a prophetic gift, which meant he heard messages from God and passed them on to people.
"Alan's a bit like a psychic, but a Christian version," he said.
Lieutenant Thompson said there was often much scepticism surrounding those with prophetic gifts, but challenged people to go along and make up their own minds.
The Encounter session will be held at 7pm. Major Laurens will also attend Sunday's regular morning session at 10.30am.
"If you want to encounter God and see what we're doing here, feel free to come check it out," Lieutenant Thompson said.
