Disaster Recovery

Salvos emergency services volunteer talking to bald man

We’ll meet you at your point of need in times of disaster.

We believe that no one should have to ‘go it’ alone. When the emergency is over, we don’t pull out. We step up our services to reflect the needs of the community, and we’ll stand along-side you through the long haul of recovery.

If you've been impacted by the bushfires in Bega and Tartha, south New South Wales, please contact us here

If you've been impacted by the recent floods in North Queensland, please contact us here. Alternatively you can find out about or apply for Queensland Goverment grants here.

If you're in Darwin and need support after the recent Cyclone, you can find out more here.

If you've been impacted by the Victorian bushfires, you can find out more about assistance here

Our emergency support workers will provide immediate assistance with cash and goods - no long forms to fill out or waiting periods. When disaster strikes we know you need the help, fast.

But our support is long-term, meaning years, not months.

Our focus is not just on the reconstruction of physical infrastructure but on the restoration of your physical, emotional, environmental and economic well-being. We have a vast network of services in a range of fields to assist you during your healing journey.

  • Our trained counsellors are deployed to homes, schools or town-hall settings to work with individuals or groups.
  • Our financial counsellors are available later on down the track to help you work through complex longer-term issues.
  • In times of intense stress, sometimes a refreshing break can make all the difference. We can offer your children places at our kids camps, or grants for short breaks away from the disaster area.
  • Our employment and training services are available for you if you feel like you can’t, or don’t want to, return to your old job.

Sometimes a cuppa and a chat is all you need some days, we’ve got that covered, too.

Disasters can change everything. Throughout it all, we’re there.
