A sad beginning

The Albury Salvation Army history book’s first entry in 1910 records a tragedy.

A Salvation Army outing at the Murray River ended disastrously when a rowboat containing Salvationists overturned. Katie Berry drowned and the records state that after a great struggle, all the others were rescued.

In that same decade influenza struck Albury, with The Salvation Army closed for a period of a month due to local government regulations to control the spread of the outbreak.
