Expansion
Not content to sit still, the early Salvationists moved at once to take new ground.
The Salvation Army’s War Cry newspaper reported on 10 December 1904 that the first Army meeting had been held at Bawley Point by Milton Salvationists.
The Moruya Salvation Army was holding meetings at nearby Mogo and the Bimbimbie Mines in 1904. A report in The Salvation Army newspaper War Cry in 1904 speaks about a meeting at Mogo by Moruya Salvationists: A rousing night’s meeting was held at Mogo, an unusual feature of which was a march through the town, the band being in evidence, and as we approached the pub, we marched single-file and, in turn, shouted at a Gospel reminder. The inside meeting was well attended. Our brass band is increasing in numbers, and our corps in general is decidedly on the up-grade.
As the years went on, and as transportation became more efficient, The Salvation Army consolidated its ministry in the Eurobodalla and southern Shoalhaven to a centre in Batemans Bay.
