Moruya

The Salvation Army’s Captain Frances Eliza Quail and Lieutenant Malvina Banks established the Army’s ministry in Moruya on 13 August 1892, but the corps closed in 1908.

Nearly 100 years later, Batemans Bay Salvation Army officers Captains Ben and Emma Johnson opened a Salvation Army Family Store in Moruya in 2004. The Internet Café was opened a year later and court house ministry also began in 2005 with Salvation Army soldiers Phillip and Coral Reeks assisting. In March 2016, the Mission was re-focused and re-located to Vulcan Street. The new premesis was opened by ACT/NSW South Coast Area Officers Captains Mark and Fran Everitt, along with South Coast Hub Leaders and Corps/Mission Officers Captains Ross and Melanie-Anne Holland.

The Mission now operates a Family Store, Salvos Connect, Doorways, Moneycare financial counselling, a Bible study, Court House chaplaincy, street & pub ministry, and Sunday worship services. These ministires are supported by Salvation Army Soldiers Coral and Phillip Reeks and Shawn Parker, all local residents and avid evangelists.
