Charters Towers Greats - Envoy John Robinson

Charters Towers SA Brass Band photoAnother Charters Towers “great” is Envoy John Robinson who served as bandmaster. He was also elected as an alderman to Charters Towers City Council in April 1933 and served the city for some years. (His brother, Richard Robinson, was the Commonwealth returning officer for the seat of Kennedy.) Envoy John Robinson’s service to Salvation Army banding lasted 53 years as bandmaster at both Charters Towers and Townsville, and later he became Divisional Bandmaster for North Queensland.
