Emerald Greats

The Salvation Army in Emerald and the surrounding areas has hosted its fair share of outstanding Salvationists.

Present-day heroes include Paul and Kaylene Morrice, Emerald Salvationists who were called by God to become officers of The Salvation Army. Since their training in 2001 at The Salvation Army’s School for Officer Training in Sydney they have had a variety of appointments and are now serving as The Salvation Army court chaplains in western Sydney. Troy and Donna Munro, also salvationists from Emerald, have become Salvation Army officers and are currently serving in Forbes, western NSW.

Other notable Salvation Army officers to have served locally are current Salvation Army Chief Secretary (second in command) in eastern Australia, Lieutenant-Colonel Mark Campbell (pictured right), who served in Blackwater during the 1980s with wife Julie; and Major Kelvin Pethybridge, who is now the Secretary for Business for The Salvation Army across eastern Australia. He also served in Blackwater in the 80s.
