Opening fire

The Salvation Army’s first officer in Longreach was Captain Elizabeth Popp.

The photo opposite, is of the first Salvation Army building in Longreach. We believe it was located at the bottom end of Eagle St somewhere close to Bustard & Owl Sts. This part of town is flood prone, from Gin Creek. We believe this building was relocated to the present Salvation Army property in Eagle Street at a later date.
