Always about people finding freedom

From the early days when The Salvation Army band used to march down the main street of Townsville, to today, when the Salvos can be found offering a cuppa to our Aussie troops at the RSDS base, helping people in addiction through recovery or running children’s groups or budgeting classes, one thing remains the same: we’re about people finding freedom.

Recently, Danielle found freedom from her 22-year addiction, at The Salvation Army’s Townsville Recovery Services Centre. I had no sense of self, I just wanted to die, she says. The Salvation Army loved me before I could love myself, they provided me a place where I could rest and grieve and cry – I had 22 years worth to get out! … It gave me hope.
