Our home in Townsville

Salvation Army meetings in Townsville began in the Norman Hall on the corner of Sturt and Stokes Street. A quarter-acre of land was purchased in Sturt Street in 1903 and a public appeal raised the money to build The Salvation Army’s first “barracks”. This served the Salvos well for more than 60 years until a demolition and rebuilding project took place in the late 60s, with the new citadel opening in 1970. Today, The Salvation Army has two expressions of ministry in Townsville, the Faithworks Salvation Army in Aitkenvale and the Townsville Riverway Recovery Mission in Condon.
