The last word

We couldn’t resist this little tidbit … the Townsville Salvation Army history book notes that in 1917 a Primary Hall (used for young people’s activities) was built at the rear of the citadel and that  the congregation used to park their sulkies and drays under the building. A common prank by some of the youth of the day was to unhitch the horses and put the sulkies shafts either side of the pylons and then re-hitch the horses. This was very aggravating to the owners trying to hurry home for lunch after the service!
