It began on the street
The Salvation Army came to Forbes on 15 December 1888 with an open-air meeting followed by a meeting in the Osborne Hall. In 1890, a block-laying ceremony was conducted by Commissioner Coombes. Major renovations of the hall took place in 1972 with a new entrance and plastering of the walls. The battlements were removed and inside, the platform was raised and walls panelled. The Salvation Army in Forbes is now located in Rankin Street.
