The Salvation Army in Forbes was built on the back of some intrepid pioneers. There is a picture in the book, Forbes, of a South Sea Islander, Brother Walter Beulah, selling the War Cry in 1892, where he is captioned as one of the Army’s first recruits. Other names associated with the Army in Forbes throughout the years include: White, Trethewey, Buttress, Kolgers, Jenkinson and Curtis.
