A role model for women

hornsby home league 1940Hornsby Salvation Army (and its Thornleigh branch) has been marked by the service given by a number of dedicated single female officers. In the “Boomers Gallery” of the War Cry for 23 June 1900, we find reference to Sister Annie Deagon of Hornsby (Ryde Outpost), a lassie who sold the War Cry in hotels throughout her life of service in the Army. Thornleigh Salvation Army was served by 16 single women officers before being closed in the early 1980s. Pictured above is the Hornsby Salvation Army Home League (a women’s ministry) in 1940.
