Lithgow Legends - Phil Sharp

The Salvation Army in Lithgow today is headed by Captain Phil Sharp, a born-and-bred Lithgow local. After completing his schooling, Phil left Lithgow to join the navy in 1968 where he completed 20 years service. Since leaving the Navy Phil had a number of work experiences before being called by God to Salvation Army officership in the late 1990s. Since becoming an officer in the Salvos, Phil has served at a number of places including Wellington, Lismore, Bundaberg, Springwood and 12 months as Chaplain to the Parramatta Family and Children's Courts. Phil has more recently returned to Lithgow as the Development Officer for The Upper Blue Mountains and Lithgow Salvation Army, where he and his wife Gwen have settled comfortably.
