Always about people finding Freedom

From its early days when The Salvation Army band used to march down High Street, to today when Salvos can be found serving meals, providing welfare support or teaching budgeting skills; one thing has remained the same. The Salvation Army is about people finding freedom. Freedom from fear. Freedom from neglect. Freedom from poverty and addiction.Freedom to dream. Freedom to love. Freedom to make a difference. Freedom to live life to the full. Freedom through Jesus.

Anne RoweAnne Rowe (pictured) first came into connection with the local Salvation Army officer through the local Gloria Jeans coffee shop and started our Positive Lifestyle Program on a weekly basis. As a result of this connection, other needs were met through the Freedom Centre, including Moneycare Financial Counselling, Salvos Legal, the Mature Age Workers program and also Drive 4 Life. Anne was over the age of 50 but had never had the confidence to get her drivers’ license but after sessions with our Drive 4 Life facilitator, Reg Hierzer, and through undertaking the Positive Lifestyle Program with Captain Di Gluyas, Anne gained her license and her life has been transformed. Anne’s life was one of brokenness and is now filled with joy, hope and purpose. She is now connected with a Bible study group at Penrith Salvos, helps with women's events at the church and has completed training to serve when called upon with the local Salvation Army Emergency Services Team.
