Ryde revival

In 1994, Lieutenants Kevin and Lynette Prince, fresh out of Salvation Army training college, were appointed to Ryde Salvation Army. The situation was grim: Ryde had a small, ageing church population. The Lieutenants were given the task of finding God’s vision for Ryde Salvation Army. By December 1995 the “Ryde Refocus” as it was being called, was starting to take place. That month the first meeting was held in the North Ryde Public School auditorium (pictured right), with 85 adults and 30 children present. By 1996, the Prince’s had led a revival in Ryde and farewelled the area to take up appointments in Salvation Army recovery services. Ryde Salvation Army welcomed Captains Lyndon and Belinda Spicer who continued to grow the congregation and expand its ministries and services to the community.
