Always about people finding freedom - Colin and Samantha Pullan
From its early days when The Salvation Army band used to march down the main streets of Southern Highland towns and perform open-air meetings, to today when Salvos can be found providing welfare assistance or running children’s groups; one thing has remained the same. The Salvation Army is about people finding freedom.
Many changes have taken place over the years and new people have come and joined the congregation. One such family, Colin and Samantha Pullan, came to the church when they received an invitation to bring their children along to the SAGALA activity and Mini-Muso’s. They found a warmth and welcome that made them comfortable and after a short while commenced attending worship services. Colin had a background awareness of the work of the Army during his time of service in the Australian Military, where he met the “Sally-man” (one of our Red Shield Defence Services personnel.) This man was to become a confidante to Colin and provided support as he travelled through some darker times of life. The family has now found a spiritual home, warmth, care and comfort from the congregation and The Salvation Army officers of that time. Their sons became Junior Soldiers and attend SAGALA. Colin and Samantha were moved by the Spirit to also make a commitment to the lord and undertook soldiership classes, along with two other folk, and are looking expectantly to the time when they will be enrolled at the completion of the class. An experience of freedom in Christ.
