Beginnings

The Salvation Army “opened fire” in Gosford on 19 January 1905 under the leadership of Captain Charles Mead. The first meetings took place in a large tent erected on the land later occupied by Grawill Motors. A shortage of officers led to Gosford Salvation Army closing for a period of seven years from 1908 to 1915, but it’s been going strong ever since its re-opening.
