In times of need

It’s often said that The Salvation Army has a ministry of “presence” – of  being there in times of need.

When farewelled from Wellington after a two-year appointment, Salvation Army Officer Mrs Wemyss was praised by the local Mayor for her work with people in need within the community, with the Wellington Gazette reporting that the Mayor noted that during his occupancy of the mayoral chair he had taken particular notice of the work of Mrs Wemyss amongst the poor and needy, the sick and the dying and he was sure many such of this town would bless her in their memories.

The Salvation Army remains committed to helping all in need in Wellington today. People in need of emergency, financial or other assistance can call the Salvos Connect line (1300 371 288) and they will be assessed and connected with one of our nearby centres.
