Always about people finding Freedom - Jack McDonald
Local larrikin Jack McDonald found faith when he ignored warnings by police to stay away from Salvation Army meetings and snuck into the hall during a service. In her book Booth’s Drum, The Salvation Army in Australia 1880-1980, Barbara Bolton writes: Something in the ministry of the officer affected Jack. Who’ll be the next His cross to bear? the Captain quoted from a song one night. I will! shouted Jack and out to the mercy seat he went to declare himself on the side of God. As a soldier in towns like Tingha and Inverell his practical witness amongst fellow workers soon earned him the respect of the district.
