Our home in Tenterfield
The first meetings of the Tenterfield Salvation Army were held in an old stone building known as the Union Stores on the south-east corner of Rouse and High Streets. These opening meetings drew large crowds and the first converts were Thomas Hoskin and his fiancee Miss Sarah England.
Later, meetings were held in a building on the northern side of High Street.
Eventually The Salvation Army’s first citadel in Tenterfield was built in Rouse Street. In 1981, The Salvation Army entered into an agreement to manage the town’s Community Centre in return for use of one room as a chapel.
Today, The Salvation Army in Tenterfield is located on the corner of Logan and Naas Streets, with a family store located in Crown Street.
