The Salvation Army in the Lockyer Valley today

2015 Lockyer Valley Red Shield AppealThe Salvation Army remains a vibrant presence in the Lockyer Valley today, with ministry centred around its Gatton hall on the corner of Old College Road and Ford Street and its Family Store in Railway Street. Regular meetings are also still held in Laidley. Current Salvation Army officers, Captains Craig and Katie Harlum, are passionate about seeing people find freedom and they and local salvationists are active in a number of community events, including the recent “Big Day In” youth event.

The Lockyer Valley Salvation Army brass band can often be seen marching in local festivals and carolling in the streets at Christmas time. (If anyone would like to learn a brass instrument or plays a brass instrument please call Captain Katie on 0417 120 448) There’s something for all ages at The Salvation Army in the Lockyer Valley, says Captain Craig Harlum. We’ve got children’s groups, we’ve got women’s groups, men’s groups and our Sunday worship service is family oriented and features Sunday School for the kids. For people in the community who are in need or going through a hard time, we have emergency assistance available and low-cost clothing and household goods at our Family Store. Drop in and see us to find out more!
