In times of need
It’s often said that The Salvation Army has a ministry of “presence” – of being there in times of need.
In 1982, The Salvation Army was called upon to assist with catering during disastrous floods in Nambour that submerged a complete section of the local CBD. Rescue workers were refreshed with tea, coffee and sandwiches by volunteer Salvationists.
Following this, Nambour Salvation Army secured a purpose-built Emergency Services trailer which was first used in the Mapleton and Kondalilla area when the Salvation Army Emergency Services team sustained the members of search parties looking for people lost in the bush. It has also been used at bushfires, the Anzac Day church fires, a petrol spillage, the Pacific Paradise floods, traffic accidents and many more incidents.
