Salvo Care Line

During the middle of 1988, Alvyn Staines, of Nambour Salvation Army, attended a Salvo Care Line course in Brisbane.

It became evident that establishing a Salvo Care Line on the Sunshine Coast would supplement the welfare work already being done by Nambour and Maroochydore Salvation Army.

In 1989, after much fundraising, the 24-hour phone service, manned by trained volunteer counsellors, was launched. The program ran in conjunction with Salvo Care Line Brisbane and Salvo Care Line Sydney until its closure earlier this year.
