Wartime service

During 1941, returning servicemen from the Middle East were housed in camps all around Nambour.

The then Nambour Salvation Army officer, Captain George Godkin, later wrote: Our Citadel became a centre of much activity. The Citadel was packed to the doors both morning and night and we marched seventy-strong in the band each Sunday for a period of ten months. The corps also organised a Concert Party to conduct camp concerts in the various camps. A Women’s Sewing Group was formed to visit camps and do sewing repairs to the men’s clothing.
