Christmas time in South Burnett

In 1959, Christmas ministry began with The Salvation Army (in conjunction with Rotary) taking elderly residents who were unable to get out regularly for a drive in the countryside, then to a Christmas party at the hall. This continued until 1989 when a Christmas toy run commenced with the local Christian motorcycle club.

This became The Salvation Army’s new Christmas tradition, with different motorcycle clubs over the years donating toys to be given out by The Salvation Army to families in need.

Today, The Salvation Army South Burnett puts on a free community Christmas lunch on Christmas Day as well as our Christmas Day church services. In the lead up to Christmas Salvos offer gift wrapping at the mall, mall collections, and carolling around the town. We also recognise our dedicated volunteers at Christmas time with a Thank You Party in December.
