In times of need

It’s often said that The Salvation Army has a ministry of “presence” – of being there in times of need.

In 1996, the Kingaroy Salvation Army obtained a Salvation Army Emergency Services trailer which has been used in a number of incidents over the years, including feeding searchers who were looking for three women who went missing in Kenilworth, and also searchers looking for a missing man at Cherboug – both in 1999. Our trained Salvation Army Emergency Services team also supported fire fighters during the 2004 blazes in Kilcoy.

People in need in the community of South Burnett have been helped over the years by our welfare services. Today, people in need in the community can call the Salvos Connect line (1300 371 288) and they will be assessed and connected with one of our nearby centres.

Low-cost clothing, household goods and furniture are available at The Salvation Army’s Kingaroy Family Store on Pound Street. The Salvation Army continues its tradition of visitation, with Salvationists making regular visits to hospitals, nursing homes, and of course, our weekly hotel ministry.
