Toowoomba Greats - Robina Carter & Emily Peskett

More recent ‘Greats’ include Robina Carter and Emily Peskett (pictured right - photo courtesy of the Toowoomba Chronicle), Toowoomba Salvationists who received Queensland  Family Services Volunteer Awards in 1990.

Robina Carter worked in The Salvation Army’s community welfare centre for more than 20 years and helped at the Toowoomba Men’s Hostel by washing linen, cleaning and cooking. At times she would care for sick, homeless men who were not ill enough to be hospitalised.

Emily Peskett worked at The Salvation Army’s Toowoomba Family Store for more than 20 years and also organised monthly street stalls, selling her own home made jams, pickles and cakes to raise money for Salvation Army work.
