Manly Greats - Lily Hoepper
The Salvation Army in Manly has produced some outstanding Salvationists over the years. In the 1930s, the young Lily Robinson was invited by Mrs Lily Salton to attend the Salvation Army Company Meetings at Dee Why. She attended regularly and was nurtured by Mrs Commandant King (Ret.) and after a short time became a Christian, being sworn-in as a Salvation Army senior soldier at 14 years of age.
In young adulthood she married Envoy Bramwell Hoepper and worked all her life in Salvation Army young people’s work, taking on leadership positions in the Life-Saving Guards, and assistant manager at The Salvation Army’s Collaroy Camp. Mrs Envoy Hoepper (pictured) took a number of these young people into her own home when disowned by their own parents.
