Making music

The Salvation Army in St George has a rich musical history. In 1973 The Hurstville Salvation Army band made history when they accepted an invitation from King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV of Tonga to visit his country. The Hurstville band has also travelled throughout Australia and to Papua New Guinea and Africa as part of its ministry to share the love of God through music. Songster brigades (singing groups) and timbrel brigades (tambourine groups) have also been a feature of Salvation Army worship over the years.
