The Family Support Service sees 150 clients per week providing food and emergency relief. Low-intensity case management and advocacy are critical to the service. The service distributes around 750 hampers at Christmas time. The programs are part of an essential holistic service with all other community programs and runs specialist programs for clients in general life skills, i.e. cooking, personal hygiene, etc.

The Family Accommodation Program provides transitional accommodation and support to families living within our community who are experiencing, or at imminent risk of, homelessness. The Program can support up to ten families at any one time and works in partnership with Salvation Army Housing to provide affordable, safe and stable accommodation in Balga and surrounding suburbs for up to 24 months.
Families within the program are provided with intensive case management and support to identify any needs and risks which may have contributed to their homelessness experience. The Caseworker provides outreach support to families, with a minimum of monthly home visits provided. The Caseworker will work alongside each family to develop a case plan; outlining appropriate strategies, support and referrals to address any identified challenges and work towards positive change and personal growth. There is a focus on education, training and employment support to assist families to gain financial independence. Support is also provided to increase independent living skills to aid in breaking the cycle of homelessness.
Eligible families will need to have children under 16 years of age in their care and be eligible for the public housing waitlist.
Please contact reception on (08) 6389 8200 for any enquiries.
