Brassworx for 2024 is done!

Brassworx is an enriching musical experience for young and emerging brass instrumentalists and percussion musicians.
The event provides an opportunity to explore the fantastic repertoire of the brass band world while improving skills under the guidance of an Australian band trainers.
The musical focus of Brassworx will be on the deep and wide Salvation Army brass band repertoire, with local Brisbane and Australian & overseas composers, allowing participants to enjoy brass band playing at the highest possible standard.
Brassworx seeks to inspire and motivate musicians by playing great music in a supportive environment, showcasing the rich tradition of Salvation Army and other brass band music.
We thanks Gavin Staines for his fabulous work for Brassworx 2024 Gavin Staines, a prominent figure in music education in Sydney, boasts a career spanning over forty years. His journey began while studying at the Conservatorium of Music, where he directed the Artarmon Public School Concert Band. In 1980, Gavin joined Chatswood High School as a music teacher, dedicating 38 years to the institution. His impact extended beyond the classroom, as he organized numerous overseas tours for the school’s concert and stage bands, performing at prestigious venues worldwide. Gavin’s contributions were recognized with awards, including the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) and acknowledgment by the North Shore Times. His legacy continues through the Cameraygal Wind Symphony, an adult band he directs in Lane Cove. Gavin has many years experience in Salvation Army Brass Bands, including Sydney Congress Hall Band. He currently is a mentor for the Salvation Army's Sydney Youth Band. |
