First Time Visiting?

We realise it can be a bit intimidating visiting a Salvation Army meeting for the first time. Here are some questions you might have in mind to help you feel a little more at ease.

What can I expect at a Salvation Army Sunday meeting at Brisbane City?

Our services begin with a call to worship and of course with singing.  We love music and you can expect to see a brass band on the platform, as well as other musical ensembles, specifcically our choir or Songsters.

One of our Officer team will deliver a sermon, usually for about 20 minutes, followed again by a time of reflection and music.

During a meeting, you may also hear updates on missions, community outreach and other aspects of life within our community.

We have a financial giving or offering time, and all are welcomed to give in the plate at the front of the meeting, or via online via BPAY - see our Ways to Give page

On the first Sunday of every month, please join us morning tea after the service.

How long does the 10am meeting go for?

Around 80 minutes.

What if it’s my first time? Will I be singled-out?

If you’re visiting for the first time, we’d love to connect with you, but won’t make you stand up in front of everyone!

Is there on-site parking?

There are a number of other car parks located in the CBD that you can pre-book or you can try to find cheaper on-street parking alternatives.

  • Wilson Parking – 140 Elizabeth Street. $7 Prebooked on Weekends and after 5pm Weekdays. $15 driveup.
  • King George Square BCC – 0-3hrs $10, 3-8hrs $15, over 8hrs $20 all drive up on a Sunday (as per August 2024)
  • Uptown (previously Myer Centre Carpark) – $10 Prebooked and $14 driveup.
  • Wintergarden Secure – $10+1 Prebooked and $13 driveup.

I have children. What do they do during the service?

We have a Sunday Schol type program for children from 3-7 & 7-12 years old . These program operate during our service and check-in for children opens around 15 minutes before the service time. Of course, you’re welcome to go with yout children to their programme, or keep your children in the service with you, if you’d prefer!

What should I wear?

Our services are informal and relaxed. Wear what you feel comfortable in!

We are so glad that that you are here!

We would love to get to know you better. Help us connect with you.
