COLLECTIONS

The Salvation Army collects second-hand items that are in full working order and in a sellable condition.  

To arrange a collection, please email photos of your collection to cairns.corps@salvationarmy.org.au with your contact information. A representative will call you once your email has been received to organise a collection date. 

To drop donations, please visit our stores during business hours only. Dumping of goods in any of our sites is illegal and may incur a fine.

UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS

Due to Workplace Health and Safety legislation, it is recommended that Family Stores do not accept, or offer for sale, the follwoing items:

  • Mattresses or bases with rips or stains
  • Lounge suites with rips or stains
  • Used carpet
  • Free standing organs
  • Ovens, stoves and dishwashers
  • Appliances that do not work
  • Fixed items such as built in cupboards, ceiling fans, casement windows, doors
  • Swimming pools
  • Wire based bed frames
  • Building materials
  • Gas, oil or electric heaters
  • Gas bottles
  • Water beds
  • Encyclopedias
  • Broken Furniture
  • Motorcycle Helmets
  • Safety belts and child restraints
  • Swing sets
  • Trampolines
  • Bean bags
  • Washing lines
  • Printers
  • Cots
  • Commodes

In the interest of public health, anything that is dirty, torn, stained or mouldy, cannot be accepted and must be discarded.

OTHER EXAMPLES OF UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS ALSO INCLUDED BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO

  • Drug or alcohol paraphernalia
  • Vaping implements
  • Vile, vulgar, or distasteful items
  • Any material promoting a biased view of politics
  • Marital aids
  • Guns, swords, and other military paraphernalia
