What is The Salvation Army?
Founded by the Rev. William Booth around 130 years ago, The Salvation Army is a Christian denomination with thousands of churches and centres, and millions of members in over 100 countries.
How do I know the Salvation Army is for me?
The Salvation Army has always been made up of ordinary people from all walks of life. People who trust God, enjoy their service for God in the
Salvation Army. People who are not perfect, but
who keep on trying.
However, you will never know the answer to this question until you give it a go.
So, what is unique about this church?
The Salvation Army has always endeavoured to turn faith into action, which is why you will often see its members bringing help into the most needed places. As well as churches, The Salvation Army also runs hostels, homes for the elderly and
for children, 'soup runs' and night shelters to those living on our streets, tracing missing relatives, and many other activities in the community.
We are an army that wages , continual war against evil and oppression. The battle against good and evil, light and darkness has always been there. we are an Army that brings Christian belief to the fore by trying to make this world a better place to live in. Some of our members (soldiers) wear uniforms. This helps to signify that we are involved as soldiers in warfare against evil.
