JuniorChef Challenge

22 November 2010

Read how the JuniorChef Challenge went.

On Friday evening the Junior Chefs arrived at Kid’s Camp.  The evening introduced the kids to the exciting weekend that was to come.  The Junior Chefs customised their own aprons for the weekend and to take home.

After Breakfast on Saturday the first group challenge happened for the Junior Chefs.  In 6 different groups, there was a race to complete an egg omelette per group.  Coming down to the wire the Black Eyed Peas were very cool, calm and collected, and finished just in time.   The groups came up one by one and were judged on plate presentation and taste.   ‘The Black Eyed Peas” won for presentation and taste.  The 'Strawmangamelons' were awarded for their great team work throughout the challenge.

The 11am and 1pm sessions gave the young people a time for some recreation on the canoes and rock climbing wall.  For the second half of the group, they were involved in a fun, yet very challenging social justice game that gave them the opportunity to think beyond themselves.

In the later afternoon the Junior Chef’s displayed their creative ability while making some biscuit creations, and it was not long before most of them were finished off.

In the evening everyone dressed up for a night of games and laughter, and the fun continued with a bonfire down near the lake.

Sunday morning sessions gave the young people the opportunity to respond to Jesus by placing their thumb in paint and leaving their mark on a cross.  52 thumb prints were counted.  Praise God!

The young people had a great weekend of fun, learning interactive worship songs and meeting new people.  It was a great way to link children from the community with the church and with Jesus.
