Kids time gives children a sense of belonging, they feel accepted and comfortable enough to tell everyone what’s happening in their lives. Kids need to be heard and accepted by adults. Modelling spiritual conversations between generations and reinforcing what is of eternal importance in a child’s life is a great way to help children become comfortable talking about their relationship with God and what’s happening in their lives. This is THEIR Church.
It’s good for the children to come to the front so that they can see and engage fully- not so they can be on display.
Asking the kids to stand and pray for them as they leave for Kid’s Church or bring them back in near the end of the worship service, takes a little more co-ordination, but allows the adults to listen to what they’ve done. Adults can also share with the kids what they’ve been doing during morning tea.
"Let the children come to me," Jesus said. How we do this requires creativity on our part, and a multitude of answers - not a one-size-fits-all approach.
