We stand with communities through the stages of disaster
From emergency response to long-term recovery, we stand with communities through the stages of disaster, providing financial, material, emotional and spiritual support to help rebuild lives and livelihoods.
In the aftermath of a disaster, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the enormity of all that needs to be done.
You don’t have to take the journey alone.
The Salvation Army can provide advice, assistance and clarity, to help you make sense of what the next steps are and regain control over the situation. We are here to support you for as long as it takes to recover.
How to access recovery support
In a government-declared emergency, The Salvation Army offers hardship grants for urgent necessities like food, clothing, and medical supplies. Recovery hubs, managed by state or local governments and involving various agencies, including The Salvation Army, serve as one-stop-shops for information, referrals, and personal support, including financial assistance.
For details on getting financial help after a natural disaster, contact your state and territory disaster support.
Recovery support can be sought in-person at a recovery hub. Those seeking assistance must provide the following:
Essential
- Photo ID with the address of your flood-damaged house (this needs to be your primary place of residence)
- A Medicare or Health Care Card to show your dependents (if you are claiming a grant for your household members)
Optional
- Any other evidence to demonstrate that you are impacted, such as an insurance claim, referral letter.
