Youth Outreach is a transitional accommodation program staffed by trained and understanding Case Managers. Youth Outreach provides Supported Accommodation to young people aged 15 to 25 years of age who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
Youth Outreach is funded as part of the Inner North and North East Youth Homelessness Services, funded through the Department of Communities and Social Inclusion under National Affordable Housing Agreement (NAHA) and National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH).
Youth Outreach accommodation is located in the Inner North and North Eastern suburbs of Adelaide. Youth Outreach covers the Local Council area of Tea Tree Gully, Salisbury and part of Port Adelaide Enfield.
Accommodation and support is available to young single people, couples, sibling groups, and people with children. Clients are usually in receipt of the Independent Youth Allowance from Centrelink. Waiting times for accommodation vary based on property size and suitability.
Whilst residing in Transitional Accommodation the young people are required to pay rent and general living costs including utilities.
Essential facilities such as public transport, shopping, offices of the various Government departments and community resources are all within easy reach.
Young people can be referred to Youth Outreach via the Homelessness Aliance Access team. They can be contacted on 1800 569 086.
Whilst residing in Transitional Accommodation the young people are required to pay rent and general living costs including utilities. The properties our clients reside in are managed by Unity Housing and other Community Housing Organisations, with the case management support provided by our practitioners.
Once a young person is accommodated, they are allocated a Case Manager, and in consultation with the client, a case plan is developed.
There is a strong emphasis at Youth Outreach towards independent living skills and clients are encouraged to develop networks with the wider community. Although independent living skills are a major focus in our program, we also provide many other services to our clients, including;
Clients are supported to transition as quickly as possible from our accommodation into longer term stable housing.
Our client(s) come to us from a variety of backgrounds, but usually there is or has been some family conflict which is the reason they cannot live at home.
