Family Violence Refuge services

The Salvation Army Family Violence Service (TSA FVS) operate a family violence refuge service in the South of Tasmania funded by Homes TAS. The refuge consists of fourteen self-contained units for women and women with children who are fleeing family violence. Additionally, there are four units to accommodate women and women with children who are experiencing homelessness.

TSA FVS is underpinned by an evidence-based Model of Care and Case Management Practice Guide which focuses on trauma informed, evidence based, client centred and inclusive practice. Our refuge services focus on increasing safety, reducing the impacts of trauma and recovery and healing. Available supports can include assessments of risk, safety planning, advocacy, support accessing grants and payments and referrals to other services such as legal, wellbeing, mental health, housing and health services.

Family Violence Outreach Services

TSA FVS operate an outreach service which supports victim-survivors for up to 12 months post their stay in refuge. This service supports people with the next steps of their journey and provides on-going assessments of risk, safety planning supports, advocacy, case management, emotional supports and referrals to other services such as legal, wellbeing, mental health, housing and health services.

Our reception hours are Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm
