Favourite Band Piece / Composer: Where Glory Dwelleth - Dean Goffin
Based on the tune 'Rutherford' with which is associated the hymn, 'The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of Heaven breaks', this meditation includes compositional characteristics of Colonel Bramwell Coles, to whose memory the original score is inscribed. The music begins quietly, reaching a climax with a fanfare-like section recalling the lines, 'The Lamb, with His fair army, doth on Mount Zion stand'. After the final noble presentation of the theme the music ends in tranquillity. Perhaps the meditation can best be summed up in the lines that provide the title: 'I'll bless the hand that guided. I'll bless the heart that planned, When throned where glory dwelleth In Immanuel's land'.
